The U20 Summit offers a unique opportunity to showcase the increasingly important role that cities play in responding to global challenges and contribute to the objective of fair and sustainable development. A series of thematic sessions will be held on the role of cities in climate action, the future of work , social integration , women empowerment and access to finance.
This high-level event will be crucial to highlight U20 contributions to the G20 agenda and share them with the G20 Presidency for consideration. Mayors of U20 Core Cities are invited to discuss and approve the final U20 Joint Statement and U20 Communiqué, which will be formally presented to President Mauricio Macri.
U20 Observer and Guest cities will also be represented at the meeting, as well as high-level urban stakeholders, financial and development institutions and global changemakers.
The Summit is designed to engage mayors and other high-level attendees including urban stakeholders and financial and development institutions.
